CONSULTING EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS
Product Durability Investigations
Carried out an 18 month investigation into the long term durability and corrosion resistance of a concrete/steel/fibre cement composite wall system which is widely used in commercial buildings. Scope of work included hypothesis development, experimental design, field data analysis, supervision of independent corrosion testing, and documentation of results. A very successful project, with design life in excess of 50 years confirmed by test results.
Currently undertaking a long term corrosion durability investigation of internal steel framing materials for a large manufacturer. Scope of work includes manufacturing, storage and transport, and service life of installed product from field samples.
Technology Assessments
Investigated the technical viability of a new waste recycling process including intellectual property, financial viability, and market development for a large minerals service company. Findings were adopted and recommendations are being implemented.
Investigated a serious manufacturing problem resulting in product failures. Scope included commercial exposure, root cause analysis and metallurgical investigation. Root cause identified and recommendations have been implemented.
Business Development and Strategy Development
Connecting manufacturing businesses with the robotic automation capability at University of Wollongong and also to the ARC Steel Research Hub.
Supporting the Australian Steel Institute in the area of coated steel markets and applications.
